In 1759 an enterprising young Arthur Guinness used his inheritance to sign a 9000 year lease to the dilapidated St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, Ireland. While initially just a local porter because of distribution difficulties, over the decades it slowly started exporting to England, America, Guernsey, Barbados, Trinidad and Sierra Leone, and by the 1930's almost ten percent of Irish men relied upon the brewery and its iconic dark beer to make their living. Though today Guinness is brewed around the world, it will forever be linked to its homeland of Ireland.
The glass of Guinness of the sign is raised for a 3-D effect.
