Fact # 15 ....... Mommy, are they here yet?
It would be nice if we could just go down to the cornerstore and buy a set a bagpipes, just like we do for a carton of milk. However this is usually not the case. If you are ordering pipes, you should expect a wait of 1-3 months before they arrive.....what are you kidding me? that long?....Yes, it only makes sense that the proper time and care is put into making your expensive, highly crafted instrument. So just keep working on your Tachums, Darados, and birls from D in the mean time!

MG Synthetic Drone Reeds
MG Synthetic Drone Reeds Description

MG Synthetic Drone Reeds

From Rory Grossart & McCallum Bagpipes.

Designed to plug & Play, and should require very little adjustment.  These reeds have a carbon fibre bass tongue for a deep tonal quality.  The body is moisture absorbant and the bass reed is invertible.  The alloy pitch adjuster and the hemped reed seat can be unscrewed and swapped around.

Product Reviews Finicky but sound good, September 22nd, 2008 06:24 pm

These reeds sound very smooth once they are up and going, a very nice blending sound neither bass nor tenor dominant. They tend to howl however on the strike in until a higher pressure is reached, which bothers some people and is usually not desirable in a band setting. I think they use a little bit more air than I am used to but it is not very noticeable and may be my imagination. I have also bought the A 440 Hz extenders and they do indeed bring the drones down to 440 Hz, however you might find the reed longer than your drone stock!
